Hunting Recreational Licenses - Resident

The license you purchase today will expire August 31, 2026

By law, residency is defined by your driver's license or non-driver's ID card. View the Residency Information page for details.

Resident landowners and immediate family can hunt their property without purchasing a license.

Alabama's driver's license, non-drivers ID or proof of permanent residence required.

Excludes immediate family who are non-residents.

Bait privilege permit and nighttime feral swine or coyote hunting license required.

*Alabama Residents 65 years of age and over are exempt from purchasing the following licenses:

Hunting (does not include bait privilege or nighttime feral swine or coyote hunting)
Freshwater Fishing
Saltwater Fishing (does not include angler registry or reef fish endorsement)
State Duck Stamp
Wildlife Management Area

Optional 65+ licenses are available to provide a way for those exempt that wish to continue purchasing annual licenses to support wildlife and fisheries programs

Hunters should review the requirements for Hunter Education, Harvest Record for deer and/or turkey and Game Check.

Most recreational licenses below can be purchased online, at your local Probate Office or License Commissioner, license agents, WFF District Offices or Montgomery Office and by calling 1-888-848-6887.

HUNTING

All Game - (All species - including deer and/or turkey) - $34.35
Small Game - (All species - excluding deer and/or turkey) - $22.75

RESIDENT 64 LIFETIME LICENSES – issued to residents 64 years of age for the cost of an annual recreational hunting, freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing or WMA license

OPTIONAL 65+ LICENSES – issued to residents 65 years of age or older for the cost of an annual recreational hunting, freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing, WMA licenses and state duck stamp for those who wish to continue to contribute.

BAITING PRIVILEGE – required to hunt deer or feral swine over bait. Required to all ages. No exemption - $18.45

NIGHTTIME FERAL SWINE & COYOTE HUNTING LICENSE - required to hunt feral swine or coyote at night. Required to all ages. No exemption. - $18.00

WILDLIFE HERITAGE LICENSE - Allows fishing in freshwater statewide with hook and line from the bank; fishing in WFF operated Public Fishing Lakes (daily lake permits required); hunting small game, except waterfowl, on WFF WMA (WMA map/permit required); and shooting on WFF managed shooting ranges. Included at no charge with resident hunting and freshwater fishing licenses. - $13.95

LIFETIME LICENSES (youth licenses under 16 years of age available at probate offices, Montgomery or District Offices)

Lifetime Hunting - Prices vary (prices increase each September 1st annually)

Many Organizations now give away lifetime licenses at youth hunting and fishing events. Use this application for those lifetime license winners.

Nighttime Feral Swine / Coyote Disabled Hunting License Must have a VA or SSA 100% disabled hunting license - $1.10

Disabled Military Veterans Appreciation 3-Day Event Hunting - Allows for sanctioned events hosting disabled military veterans to hunt for 3-days in Alabama. Event license permits up to 10 disabled military veterans on one event license. - $173.90
